Tomatoes are splitting

"My tomato plants get all day sun, but plenty of water. My large tomatoes are splitting. What is causing this? My cherry tomatoes are doing wonderful, just large tomatoes are all seem to be splitting. thank you!"

Splitting and cracking of tomatoes is due to fluctuating growth rates in the fruits. It's often because of an uneven moisture supply in the fruit. This can be caused by lack of water in the soil followed by plentiful moisture. Or it can also be caused by drying winds that suck moisture from the plant. Consistent watering and mulching can help.
