Flowering Vegetables
Do mustard greens flower. I planted some and they are flourishing but have begun to flower also the lettuce are doing the same thing. (flowering) Should I remove the flowers or what?
Hi, Yes lettuce, mustard and other greens will go to seed (bolt) and produce flowers. Once this happens the plants become too bitter to eat and you should pull them up and replant with a new crop of greens. Greens do not like hot weather and will go to seed quickly when the weather turns hot. If your temps are high now, you may want to wait to replant your greens until fall. They do not do well in mid-summer.
