What's happened to my collard greens?

"Hi, I planted collards last summer that did very well. The plant came back this year, however, the top of the plant has sprouted what looks like string beans. You should know that I planted string beans in this same spot 2 summers ago? What gives???"

Well it sounds like some of your beans may have dropped some seeds that just germinated this year. Or, if you are sure it's collards they do develop a tall, narrow flowering seed head after the weather gets hot. Could be either one of those things."
