What part of the brussel sprout plant can you eat? How do you prune it?
Brussels sprouts develop small "heads" along the main stem. These look like miniature cabbages, and are the edible part of the plant. It normally takes a long growing season (at least 100 days) for the heads to develop.
Often growers of Brussels sprouts will pinch out the tip of the plant in late summer to speed development of the side heads, but it's not absolutely necessary to do so.
