Ants on jalapeno plant
The ants aren't really the problem. They won't harm the plant. However, they may be "farming" aphids or other insects that feed on the sap of the plant and secrete honeydew, which the ants feed on. Control the aphids with a forceful water spray, insecticidal soap or a labeled insecticide, and the ants should no longer be attracted to the plant.
