which azaleas are winter hardy

I live in N.W.Pa. I've had a hard time getting azaleas to survive our deep cold winters. Do I need to cover them? Which ones are winter hardy?

There are a few azaleas that are considered hardy, but in truth, most are not. There is a series called Northern Lights that were developed to take the cold, but they won't survive in your region. I live in a region similar to yours and there's really no reliable azaleas. PJM rhododendrons will survive in your region if you plant them in a protected spot, but I think you might want to select another, more hardy genus for your garden.
