When is the earliest I can plant crape myrtle and lantana?

I live in zone 8 in Middle Georgia. When is the earliest I can plant crape myrtle and lantana? What type soil should I use? I am anxious to get my flower bed started!

Hi, Well I can't give you an exact date, but you should plant them after any frost danger has passed and the weather has stayed consistently warm in later spring or early summer. Neither is too fussy about soil and don't require much fertilizer. The key with both of these plants is sunlight. They require a planting spot that receives at least 8 hours of sun a day. Water whenever the soil begins to dry out for the first two weeks after planting. This will help get them established. After that water only when the soil is very dry.
