using ashes on azalea bushes

Will the ashes out of my fireplace harm my azalea bushes?

Yes. Azaleas like acidic soil and your fireplace ashes will raise the pH on the soil and make it more alkaline. You can put small amounts of your fireplace ashes in the vegetable garden (it provides potassium) and some in your compost pile. But don't put it around your azaleas. Use coffee grounds and pine needles instead.
