Trimming Miss Kim Lilacs

I live in PA. I have had Miss Kim lilacs in my landscaping for about 5 years. They only bloomed the year they were planted. How and when should I trim them? I always thought that you should trim flowering shrubs after they bloom, but these don't seem to bloom. What can I do?

The best time to trim any kind of lilac is right after its normal bloom time. For lilacs that means late spring. However, yours may not need any trimming if it is growing compactly with a nice shape. Is yours growing in full sun? Perhaps the area is too shady to allow good bloom.
