Tree roots talking up half my yard

I have a small rectangular yard about 50 x 15 feet which is half covered in tree roots. Can I build a deck over it? I can't use my yard for this reason. Please help.

Yes, you can build a deck over surface roots as long as you don't cut the roots or bury them under soil. As long as the roots can get air, they should be fine if you don't damage them when you build.
