too much water cherry blossom tree

Hello, I planted a Cherry Blossom tree 2 wks ago at my Mothers. Being I only go once a wk because of the drive I put a ooze tube around it. All the leaves have fallen off. Have I killed it by overwatering? We have had rain. If I remove the ooze tube will it come back to life It really looks pitiful Denise in TN Need I say this is the first tree I ever planted

Cherry trees do need good drainage. If the tree has been sitting in saturated soil for 2 weeks, it's likely that many of the roots have been damaged. If you get the irrigation under control, it's possible that the tree could recover.
