replace weeping mulberry at front entrance

I have removed an old weeping mulberry front my front entrance, but the roots are still there as they have spread under the bricks. What can I put in it's place to make an attractive entrance. My zone is 5/6 Thank you Valerie

You have lots of choices. Are you looking for a small tree? A shrub? Perennial flowers? You might want to use the advanced search function of our plant finder to choose some qualities (such as plant type, size, hardiness zone, light exposure, etc. ) and see what you find there.

Other small trees to consider as replacements would be serviceberry, Japanese tree lilac, or Japanese maple.
