Problems with my Gold Mop Cypress

My Gold Mop Cypress is beginning to get brown places on the foliage. Is this a sign of too much water or not enough water. They have been planted for about a month in front of the house. They get lots of sun during the day. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for writing. Browning of the foliage could be represented by too much or too little water, too much fertilizer, too much direct sun (some varieies of golden false cypress need some protection fom the hottest afternoon hours, especially in your area), or a number of other conditions. Check the soil moisture by sticking your finger in the ground near the base of the plant; if it's moist, you probably don't need to water.
