Privacy replacement trees for Leyland Cypress

We planted 30 Leyland Cypress trees about 10 years ago along a fence for privacy between our property and a school. Of course, now they are dying and we are taking them out. No one told us/or knew about the lifespan and disease-prone Leylands. We need replacements -any suggestions? We live in Paso Robles (93446), the Central Coast area of California - inland, I think area 9.

I would try Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis), a replacement for Leyland Cypress with very similar characteristics and uses in the landscape.
