planting a purple leaf plum tree

We are planting a Purple leaf plum tree near our bedroom in the backyard. How far away do you suggest planting the tree away from the house in order not to risk the tree damaging the foundation in the future?

A medium to small size tree such as purple leaf plum should be planted at least 15 feet from the foundation.
