Japanese Maple Tree - leaves lose burgandy color

I have a purple Japanese Maple tree that is about 7 years old. The past 2 years the leaves start out a deep burgandy in the spring and change to green within a few weeks. The tree gets 3 - 4 hours of zone 5 sunlight a day (couple hours in morning and again in late afternoon). The tree is otherwise very healthy. Any ideas how I can keep the burgandy color all summer?

Thanks for writing. I'm sorry to say there may not be anything you can do... Many burgundy-leafed plants tend to fade to green in summer heat. It largely depends on plant variety; some cultivars have been hybridized to hold their color better than others.
