How can we get our trees to recover from deer scrapes?

We have three Balsam Fir trees that are about 5 ft. tall. Last Fall the deer decided to scrape their antlers on them. Will they come back? Is there anything I can do to help them come back?

Thanks for writing. Whether they'll come back depends on how bad the damage is. If most of the damage is to the bark on the trunk, there's nothing you can do but let the trees heal up on their own. Happily, trees often do a pretty good job of healing as long as they're not completely mangled.
