how can i help an ailing rhododendren?

I HAVE HAD A RHODODENDREN FOR A FEW YEARS; IT HAS NEVER BLOOMED AND THE LEAVES ARE YELLOW. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT AND HOW CAN I HELP?

Hi! Thanks for writing. I'm really sorry, but without being able to see your plant and where it's going, I can't give you much specific information. This free service really isn't meant for diagnosing plant problems like this.

 

But the first place I would start is to look at the soil pH. Rhododendrons like acidic soil; if the soil isn't acidic enough for them, they'll have pale leaves and weak growth. If you're not sure of your soil pH, look for a testing kit at your local garden center. Or, contact the folks at your local cooperative extension or univeristy for help in getting a proper soil test.
