horizontal growth of mugo pines

Mugo pines were planted several years ago and have grown wide instead of tall, any solutions for getting them to grow vertical instead of horizontal

Mugo pine is a low-growing pine rather than upright growing. Its natural shape is rounded. You may be able to create the impression of upright growth by pruning lateral growing shoots that push out new growth to the side, and leaving upright growing ones unpruned.
