green mold on lilac tree

THE BARK OF MY LILAC TREE IS PALE GREEN. THANK YOU
Submitted by BHGPhotoContest

The pale green substance on your lilac tree's bark is a form of algae. It's fairly common to see algae growing on shaded tree trunks, and it is harmless to the tree. Any sprays that would kill the algae could be harmful to all of the living things around your tree, so it's best just left alone.
