Frost on new tree and shrub growth

"We live in Georgia and recently experienced a week of cold weather that has turned new young leaves brown on our crepe myrtle bushes and trees. Also our young red maple tree. Has this permanently damaged these bushes and trees or will they recover? Thanks Bill"

Your trees and shrubs should recover from this cold snap. Watch and wait for new growth to appear as the weather warms again. There is no need to prune quite yet. Wait until you can see where the branches were killed by the frost. Then prune down to the new growth and shape the plant. If the flower buds were killed by the cold snap, there will be no bloom this year.
