I'm looking to buy a flowering tree (not a fruit tree). I'd like one that grows quickly, has long lasting flowers and if possible has a nice scent. Any suggestions?
Hi, Well no flowering tree has long-lasting flowers. Most bloom for a week or two, depending on the weather. Good choices for your region include: Serviceberry (occasionally called shadblow it also has pretty fall foliage and soft blue berrries in the summer that birds gobble up), crabapple (you can get varieties without fruit), redbud, and magnolia (does have a wonderful fragrance). You can find all these trees in our Plant Encyclopedia on this website.
