confused about pruning & separating plants

1] when , how or should i cut back a butterfly bush ? 2] my blushing bride hydranga bush is getting huge-- how & when should separate this beatiful plant ?

Thanks for writing! The best time to prune a butterfly bush is in early spring --- just before or as new growth begins for the season. You can cut it back as far as you wish --- even back to 1 foot tall.


Hydrangeas are shrubs and as such, don't need to be divided or separated. Just let it grow and enjoy it!
