BURNING BUSH - FALL COLOR

MY BURNING BUSHES DO NOT TURN RED IN THE FALL UNTIL ALMOST ALL THE LEAVES HAVE FALLEN. THEY ARE IN A SUNNY LOCATION. COULD IT BE THE SOIL? CLAY TWP., MI 48001

Hi,

Thanks for writing. Fall color on shrubs is influenced by a wide range of conditions, including the weather and plant genetics, so I'm guessing there's not anything you can do to encourage yours to color up faster. In some years they'll color better and faster than others --- it's just the way nature works, I'm afraid.
