What will bloom in my CT shady ,clay cottage garden?

What will bloom in my New Milford CT part shade,CLAY, front cottage garden? I've tried many recommended plants but the only things that bloom are astilbe, butterfly bush, mayflower, evening primrose and flox. clematis and morning glory get only a few blooms trailing up my custom arbor-is there any rose that might survive? How can I ammend my already established garden w/o disturbing all the perennials?

You can use the advanced search option in our plant encyclopedia to select for perennial flowers that will bloom in shade and are hardy to your zone. You can even use the tool to select plants by flower color or height.
