water loving flowers and plants

The side of my yard is were the water pools after it rains. Are there any plants and flowers that love a lot of water? We get the morning sun on that side of the house.

Bog plants would be your best bet. Before you plant, however, work in some composted material to improve drainage. Mulch with gravel. Plants for your wet site include:

Lobelia cardinalis (Cardinal flower)

Iris ensata (Japanese iris)

Iris sibirica (Siberian iris)

Primula japonica (Japanese primrose)

Lysimachia nummularia (Moneywort)

Matteuccia struthiopteris (Ostrich fern)

Chelone lyonii (Pink turtlehead)

Rodgersia pinnata (Rodgersia)

Tradescantia virginiana (Spiderwort)
