Oily soil

Our back lawn always has leaves over it from the gum trees at the back boundry, which I believe makes the soil oily, could this be correct. Thanks Ross of Geraldton WA

Wet leaves can certainly make the grass slick, but they shouldn't be the cause of any "oiliness".
