Cross-pollinating Bird of Paradise & Pride of Barbados
I recently bought a plant which was called Poinciana and Pride of Barbados. It is a beautiful plant and I intend to keep it but it is a Cesalpina Gillesii and the true Pride of Barbados is a Cesalpina pulcherrima. If I plant one side by side with the other will they cross-pollinate and is that a good thing?
Cross pollination will not affect these plants, only the offspring. Whether they will actually produce viable hybrid seeds is something I could not tell you. But if they did, you could always plant them and see what you get!
