tree rose care

What do I do with my tree rose that I have planted in a pot, I live in zone 5 and need to put the pot in the garage so it won't break but how do I let the rose go dormant when the garage won't freeze?

Hi, First of all I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. Our Garden Doctor program was down for several weeks for this new and improved version. Anyway, the key to success here is to not let that pot freeze solid so keep the tree rose in a cool location and insulate the pot so the roots don't freeze solid. I'd pack straw or mulch around the pot. Also, keep the soil slightly moist and hope for the best. They aren't always easy to overwinter in the north--I've had mixed results, so all you can do is try.
