rose diseases

I have just found multiple big round dome looking spots around and in my miniature rose plant. The plant has been healthy until now, The spots are in the ground in the mulch and probably down in the ground with the plant currently. I have never seen anything like this on my other roses or ever for that matter. When brushed the particles fly around and there is a dark brown color on the domes under the rust color. Any ideas or suggestions? FYI it has been humid a lot lately in Ohio.

It's hard to say what's going on, but my bet is that because of the wet conditions that your mulch is sprouting some form of mushroom/fungal growth. If the plant looks healthy, but the area around it looks odd, I bet it's the mulch that's forming these growths. I'd rake away the mulch to see if you can see if these bumps are attached or from the soil underneath. These should go away once the weather gets hot and dry. If, they are growing right on the plant itself, that's another matter. Repost if you think the plants themselves are ill with more specific information about how the plants look."
