can I grow a rose bush from steam sprout?

Store bought rose is growing new leaves from the steam - can I grow a bush from this? and would it be the same rose?

Yes, and it should be the same variety, as long as the new growth is coming from higher up on the plant, not down near the roots. Roses root readily with normal rooting techniques. Try clipping the stem and burying several inches in moist sand. Put a plastic tent over it and seal it up. Saran warp, a large plastic bag, or whatever works. Should root in a couple of months. Don't let it go dry. Some people dip the stem in rooting hormones to aid rooting.
