What plants to prune before summer

I live in southern CA and as we near the beginning of summer I my inquiry is this: what perennials, annuals and shrubs can/should I be pruning right now and which should e saved for fall pruning?

Hi, Well at this time of year, you really don't need to be pruning anything, unless you have a shrub or tree with broken or dead branches. Flowering shrubs that bloom in the spring are best pruned after the flowers fade so if you have any of those, you could prune. Otherwise, on woody plants it's best to wait until the winter months to prune.
