Using plastic "tents" to cover cuttings...

Re: cuttings, after I insert them in a soil mix, I cover them with a plastic baggie. I read that when you cover cuttings with a “tent”, the plastic shouldn’t touch the cuttings. Is this true?? If so, why is it bad?

Where the plastic touches the cuttings, condensate is likely to drip onto the plant and could possibly encourage disease development. However, it's not a serious issue if some leaves or other plant parts are in contact with the plastic.
