Lighting for starting seedlings
Can I use these new energy saving flouecent
bulbs that are suppose to be providing natural
light to start seedlings. Or does it have to be the expensive ""grow lights"" sold at garden stores? I am collecting seeds from some of my plants this year, hoping to make new plants next spring. I have never done this before but it sounds like fun. Thanks Shirley
You don't need to use the expensive grow lights--flourescent bulbs work fine for starting seeds. If you were keeping the same plants under lights all year round you'd probably want to invest in grow lights. The seedlings won't spend their entire lives under those lights, so the bulbs don't need to be full spectrum. Inexpensive flourescent bulbs will work great.
