Yellow leaves, no growth on Mystery Gardenia

We planted a new Mystery Gardenia in early April. We have followed directions (i.e.) planted in full sun and kept it semi-moist by lawn sprinklers and hand watering until recent abundant rains. The plant does not seem to be growing, is producing no blossoms and there are nearly as many yellow leaves as green. How can we perk up or force growth & blossoms on this plant?

Feed your gardenia with a fertilizer that contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulfur (an azalea fertilizer would be perfect). Even after the yellow leaves go away, feed it monthly all summer. Did you prune your gardenia in the spring? Wait until after spring bloom to prune. It should bloom again in fall.
