Will some hostas take the sun better than others?
Although hostas prefer shade, there are some that tolerate more sun. They include 'Sunny Delight', 'Squash Casserole', 'Fragrant Bouquet', and 'Fried Bananas'. As a general rule, the yellow-leaved types can tolerate more sun. Most blue-leaved types can't handle much direct sun at all. Also as a general rule, the more organic matter in the soil, the more sun a hosta can take. Similarly, a constant moisture supply will enable hostas to tolerate a greater amount of sun.
