Southwestern shade plants

My Southern California yard is shady. I'd like to beautify it but don't know what plants to choose. Can you help?

Here are some shade-loving plants that will do well in Southern California: anthurium (Anthurium), caladium (Caladium), elephant's ear (Alocasia and Colocasia), gardenia (Gardenia), ginger (Alpinia, Costus, and Hedychium), glorybower (Clerodendrum bungei), impatiens (Impatiens).
