Look at the Shady garden, which can be easily incorporated into your own plan for a rock garden. You might also want to add a few of my partial-shade and low-maintenance favorites: Dwarf plumbago (Ceratostigma plumbaginoides), Bleeding-heart (Dicentra) and Astilbe.
