Non-blooming prickly pear

I am in Zone 5 & have a prickly pear cactus. About 2 years ago it had one bloom & it was beautiful. However, since then it hasn't bloomed. It has grown in width, but not height & no blooms. What can I do to make it bloom & grow in height? Thank you.

Hi, Well my guess is that you aren't giving it enough sunlight and you might be overfeeding it. These plants require poor soil to do well and at least 8 hours of sun a day. Also, they won't get any taller than their natural height and many of the zone 5 hardy types don't get that tall. They need sun and poor soil.
