Non-blooming gerbera daisies

My granddaughter gave me a potted gerbera daisy plant for Mother's Day that had one bloom on it. It has only had one more bloom since then. I have it on my front porch which gets lots of light, but should I put it in direct sun or set it back a bit. How do I get it to bloom. I've fed it with Miracle Gro for plants a couple of times.

Gerbera grows best in full sun. Avoid overwatering the plant. It is susceptible to root rot when it gets too much water. What formulation of Miracle-Gro are you using? If it is high in nitrogen (the first number), it may cause the plant to grow well vegetatively, but limit the amount of blooming.
