No flower on hydrangea
I have 2 hydrangea that will not flower and have been in the ground for 5 years. They will leaf out but not bloom?
I live in central Louisiana zone 8
I wonder if you cut back the shrubs at all at the end of the season? If so it is probable that you are actually cutting off the next year's flowers in the previous fall. The common hydrangeas, sometimes call bigleaf hydrangeas, bloom on stems made the summer before, so if you trim them back you are removing the flower buds as well. Leave them alone for a year or so and see if perhaps you will get blooms.
