How do you get rid of a bed of English ivy? It's out of control. Is there an herbicide that can be safely sprayed on the vines without killing the trees they are growing around?

English ivy is difficult to eliminate once it becomes established. If you're concerned that other nearby plants might be injured by treatment with a chemical, try repeated hand pulling, digging, and mowing instead. This will be hard work and will take persistence. If you use an herbicide, choose a brush killer. Repeat applications are often necessary. Check and follow label directions for use.
