how do i divide an overgrown zebra ornamental grass?
The easiest time to divide your zebra grass would be in late winter or early spring before it begins new growth. If you haven't already done so, cut back the dead foliage from last season to about 6-12 inches tall. Then you can use a sharp spade (some prefer a saw) to cut through the clump's roots. You can either slice off a portion from the edge of the clump or dig the entire clump and then slice through it several times to make several divisions.
