Ask Better Homes & Gardens

Experts and BHG readers answer.

The BOTTOM leaves on my hostas continue to get large holes in them and turn light brown. I have not been able to see any insects on the plants! What can I do? Please help!

Thanks for writing. Slug damage is the most common reason for holes in hosta leaves. Try treating your garden with a slug/snail bait and see if that helps stop more holes.
