Hosta leaves turn white
Well it's hard to say, but often when a hosta leaf turns white, it's a sign it's getting too much sun. Six to eight hours of sun a day is a lot for a hosta. These plants prefer partial to full shade. To me, it sounds like it's getting scalded by the sun and perhaps the one in the pot is drying out more than the other one, which would hasten the leaf discoloration.
