Greater periwinkle substitute for zone 5

I live in hardiness zone 5. What could I replace the "Greater periwinkle" with, since it is only recommended for zones 7-11. Thanks.

A good substitute would be lesser periwinkle (Vinca minor). The species has solid green leaves, but variegated forms are available if you prefer.
