Good plant for sandy, sloping terrain

I live in zone 3 and would like a ground cover perennial to cover my hill going down to the lake. This is a fairly steep terrain and poor soil (sandy). It is a small area so I could afford almost anything. A little color would be nice but mostly something to cover the sandy soil. Low maintenance would be good also. Thanks for your help. Mary

Creeping sedum may be a good solution for this site. There are many species and varieties, so you could plant swaths of different kinds to get a variety of textures and colors. All do well in sandy, well-drained soil. Flower colors range from yellow to pink, rose, or white.
