Gestation of cucumbers

I planted cucumbers in my garden, and have a thriving crop. 5 plants, pole-grown, already have numerous cucumbers. How do I know when to pick. Type and variety not sure of, got from supplier at hardware store as beginner plants. Have a few that are approx 10-12", no bumps on skin, and bloom has dropped, and feels firm. Also have tomatoes in same plot (backyard garden). Very fun and very proud (2nd year). Having fun, will expand next year.

Congratulations on your gardening success. Cucumbers may be harvested beginning when they are a couple of inches long (for some types of pickles), to when they reach full size. You want to harvest before they turn color (yellow or orange) and before the seeds (if any) become too large.
