Flowering perennial for shade

What are the longest flowering shade perennials for Michigan and which would grow best under a pine tree?
Submitted by BHGPhotoContest

There are quite a few long-blooming perennials for shade that can survive Michigan winters, including (of course) hostas, astilbe, foamflower (Tiarella), Virginia bluebells, lungwort (Pulmonaria), hellebores, variegated Solomon's seal (Polygonatum), and bishop's wort (Epimedium)'s that for a good starting point? Good luck and let us know how you do!
