Flooded garden

My yard and gardens get flooded sometimes every year. Sometimes the gardens are under water a day or two. Will this kill my plants and are there some plants that can tolerate this better than others? I have a large corner lot in town. Thank you. Dar

Hi
Well having your garden flooded will cause damage to some plants. If I were you, I'd think about planting perennials that don't mind being flooded occasionally. Plants such as perennial lobelia, Cardinal flower, actually thrive in moist soil. Go to the Plant Encyclopedia on BHG.com and do an Advanced Search on wet soil and you should get some results. If not, re-post your question and we'll give you some additional recommendations.
